The Southport Foodbank

Southport Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.

Operating from a small administration office and warehouse at Lakeside Church, Southport and having six distribution centres throughout the northern part of Sefton, open at various times in the week.

Full details of these centres, their locations and opening times can be found by clicking here

Southport Foodbank has been open to help local people in crisis since May 2013.  In 2016/17 they helped local people experiencing a crisis with over 45,000 meals.

They exist not to give a handout but to give a handup and a key part of our role is to try and establish the root cause of the need and refer clients to those organisations in the local area best able to advise and help them with the root causes of their difficulties.   If the basic cause of the problem is debt they are able to directly help through their own free and confidential money advice service, where trained advisors can help with managing the situation and relieving some of the stress.   Welfare Benefits may also be able to help by establishing whether clients are receiving all the benefits they are entitled to, or help resolve difficulties they may be experiencing with DWP.
